Ministry of the Interior

The Saxon State Ministry of the Interior is the highest foreigners authority in the Free State of Saxony. It is subordinate to the State Directorates as higher, as well as to the counties and district-free cities as lower foreigners' authorities. The Ministry is responsible for questions of the stay of foreigners in the Free State. One focus is on all matters related to the reception, residence and accommodation of asylum seekers as well as other foreign refugees. In addition, its tasks include fundamental questions concerning the interpretation of the Saxon Refugee Registration Act, the processing of petitions and parliamentary questions, the drafting of laws, regulations and administrative regulations, as well as the supervision of the authorities subordinate to him.
