The county of Vogtland with its district capital Plauen is located in the south-west of the federal state of Saxony. The county itself is located in the saxonian Vogtland and is mainly characterized by the low mountain landscape. Industrial sectors are therapeutic baths with the health resorts Bad Elster and Bad Brambach, musical-instrument making and tourism with its focus on winter sports. The textile industry, especially the "Plaunener Spitze", press engineering and the automobile and bus industry, play an important role for the region of Plauen.
